The story behind Zarwinto and our vision for making footwear shopping simpler.
Think about the last time you bought a pair of shoes.
You probably opened a shopping app, searched for a particular style, applied a few filters, scrolled through dozens of products, compared prices, and perhaps visited a few other websites before making a decision.
Now imagine doing this every time you need a different kind of footwear.
Shoes are an essential part of everyday life. From sneakers for college and running shoes for fitness to formal shoes for work and boots for personal style, footwear is a category with diverse needs, preferences, and expectations.
Yet footwear shopping is often just one small part of much larger shopping platforms.
We started asking a simple question: What if there were a platform dedicated entirely to footwear?
That question became the starting point for Zarwinto.
The Problem With Finding the Right Pair
The online shopping industry has made purchasing products more convenient than ever. However, discovering the right footwear can still feel fragmented.
Customers often move between general marketplaces, individual brand websites, social media stores, and local retailers to explore different options.
For customers, this can mean:
Spending time searching across multiple platforms. Finding it difficult to compare different footwear styles and sellers. Having to evaluate price, size, quality, and preferences separately. Struggling to discover smaller footwear brands and local sellers.
At the same time, smaller footwear businesses face their own challenges. Many local retailers and emerging brands have quality products but limited digital visibility, marketing resources, and access to a wider customer base.
We believe there is an opportunity to make footwear discovery more focused while creating additional digital opportunities for sellers.
Why We Chose Footwear
When building a startup, it is tempting to create a platform that does everything.
But we wanted to take a different approach.
Instead of building another general shopping platform, we decided to focus on one specific category: footwear.
Why?
Because focusing on a particular category gives us the opportunity to understand its customers, sellers, and unique challenges more deeply.
Footwear is not just about appearance. Size, fit, comfort, material, durability, and intended use all influence purchasing decisions.
We see opportunities to improve the discovery experience, help customers explore a broader range of options, and eventually introduce more category-specific features.
Our goal is not simply to list shoes online. It is to build an experience designed around how people discover and shop for footwear.
Introducing Zarwinto
Zarwinto is a footwear-focused online marketplace that brings different footwear sellers, products, and styles together on one platform.
Through our website and mobile app, customers can explore:
Sneakers and casual shoes. Formal and everyday footwear. Boots and other footwear styles. Products from different sellers in one place.
For sellers, Zarwinto aims to provide a digital storefront where they can list products and reach customers online.
Our broader vision is to create a platform that benefits both sides of the marketplace: making discovery easier for customers while helping footwear sellers expand their digital presence.
From an Idea to a Live Platform
Building Zarwinto has been a learning experience.
Turning an idea into a working business involves much more than developing an app or launching a website.
It means talking to sellers, understanding customer behaviour, managing logistics, handling operations, planning marketing, and solving unexpected problems.
We have worked on our mobile application, website, seller onboarding, and order fulfilment. We have also learned that launching a platform is only the beginning.
Our early progress has included:
More than 200 app downloads. Over 700 website visits. Five sellers onboarded. Five sales completed. ₹5,600 in early revenue.
These numbers represent our initial stage, not the scale we ultimately aim to achieve. They help us understand where we stand and what we need to improve.
One important lesson so far is that building a product and getting people to use it are two very different challenges.
A functioning platform is a milestone. Earning customer trust and generating repeat usage are ongoing responsibilities.
What Comes Next?
We are still at an early stage, and there is a lot to learn.
Our current focus is on improving seller onboarding, increasing awareness, understanding customer needs, and building a more reliable shopping experience.
Over time, we want to explore features that address some of footwear shopping's specific challenges, including better size discovery, more useful product information, and a smoother experience for returns and exchanges.
We also want to create more opportunities for local footwear retailers and emerging brands to participate in online commerce.
We understand that these goals require consistent execution, customer feedback, and time. They are part of our direction, not promises of features already available.
Building Beyond the College Project
Zarwinto began as an entrepreneurial idea, but we want to approach it as a real business.
Being student founders comes with its own challenges. We balance academics, team responsibilities, operations, and the pressure of building something from the ground up.
At the same time, it gives us an opportunity to learn by doing.
Every seller conversation teaches us something about the market. Every customer interaction reveals something about the product. Every operational challenge helps us understand what it takes to run a business.
We are grateful to Sharda Launchpad for providing us with incubation support and a dedicated working space. Having an environment where our team can collaborate, plan, and execute has made a meaningful difference in how we work.
For us, the journey is about more than launching an application. It is about learning how to build, operate, and grow a company.
Our Vision
We believe footwear deserves more focused attention in online commerce.
Our vision is to build a platform where customers can discover footwear more easily and where sellers have better opportunities to reach the people looking for their products.
We know that there are established players in the market, and we are not underestimating the challenges ahead.
But every business begins by identifying a problem worth working on and taking the first step toward solving it.
For us, that first step is Zarwinto.
We are building, learning, improving, and listening to the people who use our platform.
And this is only the beginning.
Zarwinto — Step into the right choice.
